Oron Haim Maayan, 36, lives in Netanya.
Oron was a competitive athlete and won many medals in competitions. He enlisted in the elite “Shayetet 13” unit, where he had a scuba diving accident and, as a result, transferred to the “Egoz” commando unit. In Egoz, Oron went through intense combat experiences as the platoon commander’s right-hand man during the Second Lebanon War and in other operational activities. Since his discharge, Oron deals with PTSD. This includes flashbacks, depression, anxiety attacks, extreme mood swings, difficulty coping with stress, psychosomatic pain, knee locks causing “temporary disability”, severe focus and concentration, and rage and sleeping difficulties. Today, Oron manages to deal with the challenges and leads a somewhat “normal” life but has to work at treating his symptoms and stabilizing his mood all the time. This makes it difficult for him to manage his life in a controlled and balanced way. Oron encountered many difficulties such as completing his academic degree, holding a permanent job, problems with managing his business and managing family life.
The Challenge: A business management tool while dealing with PTSD
To avoid reaching extreme situations, Oron has adapted a wide range of solutions and forms of conduct that he practices on a daily basis. The preparation and management of these solutions require a great deal of mental effort and time.
Oron is looking for a solution that will help reduce the mental resources invested in his self-management and continue to help him avoid reaching extreme situations. Oron wants a solution that will combine all the best practices he uses (music, remembering to eat, motivational quotes, work breaks, etc.) and accompany and remind him which forms to use and when.
