Shiran Madar, 22 years old, from Petah Tikva.
Shiran loves all kinds of sports – she played tennis for eight years, netball, loves to run, and got a fitness trainer certificate from the Wingate Institute. After undergoing and passing screenings to be a combat fitness instructor, she gave it up and decided to enlist in the “Lions of the Jordan Valley” combat unit. She took the commander’s course and, after about a year, was wounded in an accident that injured her lower body. She was evacuated to the hospital, underwent surgery, and has been in rehabilitation ever since.
The challenge: Adjusting long clothes/coat to crutches
After a long time in a wheelchair, Shiran moved to crutches. It is challenging to wear a coat or any garment with a thick layer during the winter because the sleeves don’t fit the crutches. Shiran is looking for a solution that will allow her to walk around with her crutches in the winter comfortably, without rearranging her clothes.
