Uri Shkuri – Sitting and Standing

Uri Shkuri – Sitting and Standing

Uri Shkuri, 55, is married to Bracha and has four children: Hagai, Lior, Ofir, and Yuval.
He retired from the IDF after 35 years of service in the Communications Corps in the technology unit of the ground forces. About three years ago, Uri had a severe car accident and lost his right leg (above the knee), beginning a very long and complex rehabilitation. He currently walks with a prosthesis. These days, Uri is fulfilling his dream of becoming a teacher and educator and is in the process of switching careers and teaching at “Oranim” College as part of the IDF Retirees project. Uri also teaches citizenship at “Kabri Manor” High School. He is optimistic and always looks at the glass half full. Uri loves his family and those around him, believes that life is beautiful and that the level of happiness in his life depends on the quality of his thoughts.

The challenge: Sitting down and getting up

Due to the limitations of his prosthesis, Uri is required to face complicated challenges, such as sitting on the floor while playing with his kids. It is challenging for Uri to get back up to a standing position without the support of someone near him. Uri is looking for an easy and portable solution that will aid and support him while standing up so that he will not need help and be more independent.
