A Factory For Dreams
Creating innovative solutions. Breaking boundaries together.
The program has 3 components:
Rehabilitation Support Solutions – an activity that focuses on rehabilitation departments in hospitals, where we create rapid, on-demand solutions that support rehabilitation and ease the new situation in every possible way.
Making Dreams Come True – these are long-term solutions. Depending on the request and the dream, we build a dedicated team around the injured individual and embark on a joint journey of learning, refinement, and product creation. Usually, this process takes several months until a perfect, personalized product is achieved.
TECH FOR HEROES – A special collaboration between RESTART, Beit Izzi Shapira, and JDC Israel Beyond Disabilities.
This partnership allows us to adapt and produce a variety of innovative solutions that personalize the environment of wounded IDF soldiers and security personnel — at home, at work, and in educational settings.
- Smart technologies for personalizing the living environment
- Smart solutions for using everyday devices and accessories
- Free service and professional guidance from experienced experts
This way, we ensure a smoother and more pleasant transition from the rehabilitation wards to home and a full routine of life.
Why We Do It
Empowerment
We believe that when you’re at your lowest, when you suddenly can’t do things
you once did with ease, you discover your true strength.
We believe that the moment you succeed in doing something you thought you couldn’t —
you regain the feeling that anything is possible.
Innovation
As one of the world’s leading countries in technology, we leverage Israel’s
technological and social innovation to create solutions that didn’t previously exist
— designed specifically to meet unique personal needs.
Changing Focus
We help wounded soldiers shift their focus from centering on the injury and what’s lacking, to focusing on life, breaking boundaries, reintegrating, and excelling.
History
Makers for Heroes began in 2016, founded by the pioneers of Restart, when we recognized the daily challenges and sacrifices that many wounded soldiers face.
Most of these challenges are not necessarily life-saving — they are about fulfilling dreams that the wounded wish to achieve.
We succeeded in building a strong and dedicated community of makers; professionals, tech companies, and compassionate individuals who volunteer their time to help Israel’s wounded soldiers return to doing what they love and realizing their dreams.
In 2018, we understood that injury is a universal experience, and so we began inviting delegations of wounded soldiers from other countries to participate as well.
In this way, we created empathy and empowerment that transcends borders.
