Elay Chayot, 21. Born and raised in Corazim in Northern Israel. Since his childhood, Elay has been a professional athlete. He won several medals in different competitions.
Even though he had an option to be considered as an athlete in his military service, he chose to volunteer in an elite combat unit. During training, he was severely injured in his spinal cord. For 2 weeks Elay was sedated. Since his injury, he is going through intensive rehabilitation in order to get back on his feet and function.
Challenge: Improvement of a medical device
Due to his spinal cord injury, Elay uses a device that is attached to his leg. The device requires him to frequently lay down, what limits him to be free to go around and feel comfortable. It also restricts him from going with short pants and is looking for a solution that will help with both issues.
